Meet Jou Jou Chawla Member of NAR, CAR & CCAR Residential real estate specialist somce 1982. Bay Area Resident from December 1985. B.A. in Economics from Delhi University, New Delhi, India. Jou Jou was born in New Delhi, India, and was christened Satander. However, her family used Jou Jou as a pet name and it stuck. She was educated at Tara Hall, a Catholic boarding school in Simla, the summer capital of India. Jou Jou was then introduced to her husband Piri Chawla, in the traditional "match-making" custom and became engaged in 14 hours. In the past, if a female child was "spoken for", she wore a jewel pierced in her nostril. Jou Jou decided to be fashionable and wore a diamond. In 1980, she joined her new husband in the United States. After living in New York and Texas, they moved to California in 1985 and settled in Blackhawk. She loves traveling and feels very fortunate to have visited and enjoyed the people and customs of many countries.
